Security Department

Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals' environment is made up of a variety of people – patients, staff, doctors, nurses, visitors and even their enemies. The place is made up of different buildings, rooms and spaces, high value equipment, accessibility to drugs, many entrances and ease – of – movement around the buildings and premises.

The main threats in a hospital environment are insider/employee theft, outside gang members, visitor thefts, threats against patients or staff and crimes of opportunity.

At PGH, security decisions are based on law, costs, fear of litigation and to protect the faculty's reputation. But the critical assets of the Hospital – its people, property, information and reputation – must be protected with good security.

Loss control function at the Hospital has two basic objectives:-

(a) The first is to prevent or reduce losses;
(b) The second is to limit or reduce the effect or impact should a loss incurring event occurs.
In order to meet the above objectives, the Hospital has engaged the services of one hundred and sixty eight loss control in house guards who man the various entrance and exit security check points and other security strategic areas.

The department is contactable on the following telephone extensions:

(i) Loss Control 24 hour office 2152
(ii) Main Gate 2496
(iii) Staff Entrance 2349
(iv) Casualty 2285
(v) Chief Security Officer 2375
(vi) Assistant Security Officer 2019
(Adding the department's logo and a photo of a guard would be a good thing.)
